08 Jul Primary Focus on the Students, but LEED Was Never Far Behind
Phase I & II of Shippensburg University Awarded LEED Certification
CUBE 3 Studio has been awarded LEED certification for New Construction, an official recognition of our efforts in developing an environmentally friendly facility. The LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, honor specifically acknowledges the green building and sustainability measures taken during the development and completion of our project at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
This large-scale project entailed the expansion of student housing by more than 605,000 SF and the addition of more than 1,800 beds over two development phases. The enlargement offers more spacious areas for students to reside in both inside the housing and outside in the quad.
In addition, the implementation of pedestrian networks within the development has established security and effectiveness for students and staff. These networks promote connectivity throughout campus, thus improving the school’s living and learning environments. By ensuring that eco-friendly measures were coordinated at the university, our team secured all requirements necessary to achieve LEED certification.
