Baldwin Makepeace Emergency Center at Wareham’s Tobey Hospital

We are so proud to have been selected as SouthCoast Health System’s design partner on this much anticipate and needed project, the new Baldwin Makepeace Emergency Center at Tobey Hospital. This new emergency department encompasses a renovation of 8,000 sf as well as an addition of 22,000 sf giving the hospital 30,000 sf of new and renovated areas to better serve the Southern New England and Cape Cod areas. There were many challenges that faced this design, but the one that proved to be especially difficult was the site currently had an existing Wareham landmark already on it that was a beloved by the local community – the existing home that was donated by the Tobey family that began the hospital in the first place. Through careful planning and thoughtful design we were able to create a facility that was not only functional but embodied the beauty and grandeur of the structure that it replaced. The new Tobey Hospital Emergency Department provides state of the art, highly efficient emergency services, focused on delivering high quality patient care.
