CUBE 3 has been working with Northland (Developer), Stantec (Urban Designer), and VHB (Civil Engineers) developing the design, strategy and improvements for Upper Falls for a few years. Northland Newton Development (NND) is an innovative national model of sustainability, affordable housing, transit demand management, historic preservation, open space, master planning, and community amenities.
NND’s green initiatives set a new standard in the Commonwealth, with Passive House-designed buildings, solar, LEED For Neighborhood Development, LEED Gold building standard, 10 acres of open space with 750 new trees, natural resource restoration and daylighting of the South Meadow Brook, first class renovation of an historic mill building, and undergrounding of over 1.5 miles of unsightly overhead utility wires.
